Reserving the OTCC for Student Organizations

University of Florida Groups:

  • 80% or more participants in your group are UF Students (that pay Activity & Service Fees)
  • (e.g., 9 or more in a group of 12)

Advanced reservations are required to utilize the low ropes, alpine tower, and high challenge course elements. A group of 12 or more is necessary to obtain a reservation.

*Groups of 36 or more are charged $15 per hour for each additional facilitator including set up and take down time.

Reservation Policies for student organizations

  1. A completed challenge course reservation must be on file no later than three weeks (21 days) prior to the date of the challenge course.
  2. A student group consisting of 80% Activity & Service Fee paying students and having no less than 12 and no more than 36 will be allowed to reserve the challenge course on weekends at no charge during fall and spring semesters.
  3. A charge will be assessed for groups larger than 36.
  4. Student groups may make weekday challenge course reservation for a charge.
  5. A pre-course meeting is required between the group leader and Lake Wauburg staff no later than two weeks (14 days) prior to the scheduled course. Failure to schedule or attend the pre-course meeting will result in an automatic cancellation of the reservation.
  6. Cancellation of the reservation must be in writing and received by Lake Wauburg staff no later than two weeks (14 days) prior to the scheduled challenge course. Failure to do so will result in a charge of $60.
  7. On the day of the challenge course 80% of the participants scheduled to participate must be present and prepared to participate. If the group does not meet this percentage or if there are less than 12 participants, Lake Wauburg staff may cancel the activity, charge the group for expenses incurred and the group will not be allowed to reserve a challenge course slot for one year from the date of the reservation.

Reservation Instructions

Students can utilize RSConnect to request a challenge course date and time. Follow these steps to submit your request online.

  1. Log In: Visit https://rsconnect.recsports.ufl.edu/.
  2. Click "sign in" in the upper right corner.
  3. Log in with your Gatorlink (do not include "@ufl.edu") and associated password.
  4. Check Availability: Click the "Facility Reservations" tab.
  5. Select "Outdoor Team Challenge Course" from the facility type drop down list.
  6. Select the "View in Calendar" link to see the calendar and verify the availability of preferred dates. Note: The calendar only displays confirmed reservations. Be advised that pending reservations might already exist for your preferred time slot.
  7. Make Your Reservation Request: If your date is available, click the "Reserve a Facility" link.
  8. Select "Recreational Sports Facilities > Lake Wauburg > OTCC" from the Facility drop down list.
  9. Select "Outdoor Team Challenge Course" from the facility type drop down list.
  10. Select "Student Org Event" from the activity type drop down list.
  11. Verify your name, e-mail and phone number.
  12. Fill in the form including group name, number of people in group, date and time requested, etc.  Accurate information is required.
  13. If you have any special needs or requests, please include them in the comments section.
  14. Complete the security check and "Submit Request".

After You Have Made a Reservation Request: You will receive an immediate e-mail confirming that your request was documented in the system.  Within 2 business days, the Lake Wauburg staff will contact you to gather more details about your group needs, any related costs and information needed to create the service contract. The contract will be e-mailed to you to sign and return.  Once the contract is signed and received, the Lake Wauburg staff will send you a final confirmation that your reservation is on the calendar.  If you have any questions, contact OTCC@recsports.ufl.edu.
