Marketing Assistant

RecSports Team Members Responsibilities

  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests

  • Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures

Area Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of RecSports marketing plans
  • Marketing materials include: RecSports: The Magazine, bulletin boards, posters, Facebook Fan Page, giveaways/promotional items, Web buttons, marquees, e-mail blasts, The Alligator/Reitz calendars, press releases, Gator Times submissions etc.
  • Working with advertisers for RecSports: The Magazine and sponsors for events
  • Working with Graduate Assistants in the promotion of RecSports through Preview Orientation presentations
  • Working in a team environment alongside designers, Web developers and project managers in a professional-client environment
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers and associates
  • Display responsible and quality work ethic at all times
  • Willingness to embrace learning opportunities
  • Fulfill scheduled tasks/projects in a timely manner by meeting deadlines
  • Maintain scheduled office hours
  • Contribute 10 or more hours per week

Requirements/Qualifications

  • University of Florida student
  • Previous marketing experience desired
  • Strong writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs is a plus

Graphic Designer

  • Previous design experience with portfolio must be available upon request
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs

Online Content Assistant

RecSports Team Members Responsibilities

Area-Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and publish strategic and/or routine content on the department's website (Expression Engine content management system) and social media channels
  • Establish effective organizational routines that ensure our patrons have access to timely and up-to-date information, not limited to hours of operation, sports and fitness schedules and more
  • Strive for ongoing quality enhancement and monitor website for improvements, consistency, style/voice, accuracy and opportunities
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications on management of the department's social media channels, not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, guided by RecSports' published social media plan, objectives and promotions, campaigns or initiatives
  • in a fast-paced team environment alongside creative service assistants (graphic designers, photographers and videographers), as well as marketing assistants, project managers, patrons and professional staff
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers and associatesDisplay responsible and quality work ethic at all times
  • Willingness to embrace learning opportunities
  • Fulfill scheduled tasks/projects in a timely manner by meeting deadlines

Requirements/Qualifications

  • University of Florida student
  • Capable writer and/or editor with keen attention to detail, style, aesthetic and English grammar
  • Technological literacy and/or confidence, with a foundation of appropriate skills including the ability to self-teach and/or effectively research solutions and emerging opportunities
  • Confidence in basic HTML, necessary for the identification of solutions to challenges, embedding or linking of content, monitoring consistency of style and other responsibilities essential to maintaining an effective web presence
  • Strong interpersonal communication and delivery of excellent customer relations in interactions with colleagues, patrons, etc.
  • Resourceful, diligent, timely and, at times, diplomatic in response to social-media-generated inquiries or user feedback, public or private
  • Ability to present ideas, successes, analytics and progress reports (preferred ability to present formally as well as through written/designed reports, recommendations, standard communication and visual support for presentations (e.g., slides, charts or graphs)

Bonus Qualifications

  • Previous web experience
  • Previous experience managing and/or publishing to social media channels for a professional or organizational entity, as well as a working knowledge of existing and emerging opportunity space in social media
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs is a plus
  • Published writing, or documented strengths in writing and/or editing is a plus
  • Experience or interest in health, sports, fitness, recreation, human performance, higher education or other industries relevant to the department's mission delivery
  • Other strengths relevant to the creation of content, which might include experience in photography, design, video production/editing, etc., is considered a benefit to the department

Videographer

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Previous design experience with portfolio must be available upon request
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (Illustrator is a plus)
  • Have working knowledge of Panasonic HMC 150, Go-Pro, and Sony Handycam cameras as well as sound equipment
