Class Descriptions

All classes are 60 minutes unless indicated otherwise. If a number is listed on the schedule after class name, this number indicates the duration of the class.

Please wear athletic footwear to all Group Fitness classes except select mind/body classes. You may be asked to leave if you do not adhere to this policy.

  • Cardio

    50/50

    The name says it all! This class is 50% cardio and 50% body weight training. Exercises include plyometrics, agility, and a non-stop beat that will work every muscle group. Come prepared to raise your heart rate!

    Interval Training

    Experience the effectiveness of interspersing bouts of near-maximum exertion with periods of lower intensity activity. Interval training is a great way to ramp up your typical cardio workout.

    Interval Training (45)

    Same as Interval Training, but 45 minutes in duration.

    Kickboxing

    This class combines elements of boxing, martial arts and cardiovascular exercise to provide overall physical conditioning and toning. This class does not involve physical contact and is designed for all levels.

    Step

    Challenge your strength and endurance in this classic format.  Step aerobics utilizes choreographed routines on an adjustable format.

    Zumba® Step

    Step right up for a fun and challenging cardio based class! Zumba Step that utilizes classic Zumba dance moves and the step platform.

    Gator Theory

    Gator Theory is a unique class designed with an emphasis on heart rate training incorporating various different cardio equipment and techniques along with resistance training. If you want to increase your muscle endurance, strength, and power, this is the class for you!

  • Cycling

    Cycle (45)

    A shorter version of Cycle 60, but just as intense and fun!

    Cycle

    Who said stationary bikes were boring? Ride your way through rolling hills, flat horizons for speed and sprints and up mountains for intense climbs while listening to some top notch tunes. This cardiorespiratory workout will keep your heart rate up and your mind engaged.

  • Dance

    Hip Hop Fitness

    Pop, lock, and drop it in a high intensity, high impact choreographed dance class. Wild out with us and throw your worries away for a good sweat!

    Zumba®

    A combination of Latin and international rhythms, Zumba® creates exciting and effective fitness through dance routines. Shimmy and shake while utilizing interval training to maximize caloric output.

    Center Barre

    This ballet-based workout is aimed at increasing flexibility, strength, body awareness, and balance. By focusing on the elongation of the muscles, participants can channel their inner dancer without having to learn complex choreography. No dance experience necessary.

    Zumba® Toning

    When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba® Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). Learn how to use lightweight, Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and while strengthening your body.

    Zumba® Step

    Step right up for a fun and challenging cardio based class! Zumba Step that utilizes classic Zumba dance moves and the step platform.

  • Mind & Body

    Outdoor Yoga

    Yogis take a hike! Rejuvenate your senses and spirit while practicing yoga out on the North Lawn. Feel the warmth on your face as you practice sun salutations, mimic the natural world around you as you practice tree pose, and feel at peace as you relax into sivasana.

    Vinyasa Yoga

    Vinyasa yoga translates to “Breath synchronized movement”. Be prepared to get in tune with your breath and follow it through standing, flowing, seated, and balancing postures.

    Vinyasa Yoga (75)

    The same as Vinyasa Yoga, except the class duration is 75 minutes.

    Hatha Yoga

    This “yoga for health” class will ease your mind and guide mental clarity toward strength, flexibility and relaxation. Breathing, postures and stress management will serve as the foundation in this centuries-old form of exercise.

    Power Yoga

    A more advanced energetic flowing sequence of postures and poses. Breathing techniques move participants rapidly from one pose to another. Classes focus on body weight bearing exercises, torso stability and intermediate balance.

    Recovery Yoga (75)

    This restorative class is a perfect way to recover from strength training or running by self-massaging the body from head to toe. This integrative class utilizes foam rollers to lengthen and massage your muscles and is a great opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.

    Yogalates

    A Pilates-yoga fusion class that emphasizes essential skills for proper execution of movements. Activate, isolate and stabilize deep core muscles while improving posture, flexibility, balance and overall body strength.

    Tai Chi

    Tai Chi is a graceful form of exercise that focuses on slow movements and balance. Come ready to learn how to control your breathing, meditate and reduce stress and anxiety.

    Power Yoga (75)

    A more advanced energetic flowing sequence of postures and poses. Breathing techniques move participants rapidly from one pose to another. Classes focus on body weight bearing exercises, torso stability and intermediate balance.

    Acro Yoga

    A physical practice that combines yoga and acrobatics to increase strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. Participants work with each other in a series of aerial postures and supported poses, adding the joy of camaraderie and human connection to traditional yoga practice.

    Vinyasa Yoga @ Harn Museum

    This class will take place at the Harn Museum, please bring your own mat to this class! Do not meet at SW3, meet directly at the Harn Museum.

    Meditation (30)

    Recharge yourself mentally and physically with this 30 minute guided meditation session. Transcend into a deep rest while calming your mind and settling your body, generating a high state of self-awareness.

  • Outdoor

    Coached Swim (45)

    Work closely with a swim coach to improve your technique and maximize your swimming strengths. Coaches create workout programs to challenge multi-level swimmers, from beginner to advanced. Class meets at the Florida Pool.

    Stadium Conditioning

    Have a great time in the best adult playground in Gainesville! This class utilizes the stairs, benches, ramps, and straight-aways of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for a fun and intense workout.

    Aqua Zumba® (45)

    Zumba® is making a splash in a campus pool near you! A combination of Latin and international rhythms, Zumba® creates exciting and effective fitness through dance routines. Shimmy and shake while utilizing interval training to maximize caloric output.

    BOSU®

    A strength training class targeting major muscle groups using the BOSU, various equipment and body weight. BOSU® incorporates balance and bursts of cardio into movements intended to help you tone all major muscles.

    Core (30)

    Strengthen abdominal and lateral flexors, back extensors and core stabilizers to improve torso stability and function.

    Total Body

    A strength training class that targets the major muscle groups using various equipment and body weight. Total body also incorporates bursts of cardio to keep your heart rate up.

    ViPR® Intervals (45)

    Use time based intervals of work and rest to focus on improving cardio and strength simultaneously.  This full body workout uses circuit style stations and gives participants the ability to challenge themselves as much or as little as they want.

    Total Body

    A strength training class that targets the major muscle groups using various equipment and body weight. Total body also incorporates bursts of cardio to keep your heart rate up.

    ViPR®  iBurn (45)

    Similar to iBurn, fatigue your muscles through creative movements using the ViPR. The ViPR is an innovative tool used for loaded movement training that increases efficiency and effectiveness for every workout.

    Feel the burn as you target and fatigue specific muscle groups. Skip the cardio and focus on strengthening your heart through loaded training.
