I’m honoring my New Years’ resolutions and committing to have an awesome semester by signing up for a TRiP!
Catch me in line to snag a spot for spring will be the Spring TRiP Registration Event, hosted by the RecSports' CORE department.
TRiPs provided by the Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education (CORE) are planned outdoor excursions for a variety of different activities, locations and expertise levels. Excursions include back packing through canyons, paddle boarding, blueberry picking, surfing and much more.
I plan to arrive as early as 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11 in the CORE building, located just behind Southwest Rec Center on Bledsoe Drive. You should probably do the same. TRiP sign ups start at 8 p.m. You’ll select your desired TRiPs and pay the registration fees up front. Meanwhile, you can also celebrate the spirit of adventure with trivia, FAQs, music and prizes.
Amber Larkin tells me, "Students always talk about wanting to do something cool with their semester but this is the chance to actually lock it in!”
Unfortunately, at 10 p.m. the line must come to a close. However, if a TRiP still has slots open by the end of the night you may begin to sign up online for it at 10 a.m. the following day.
You either can visit the TRiP site to find their best fit or learn about the TRiPs during the event, but be warned: hearing about all the TRiP options can make picking just one nearly impossible.
If your "new year, new me" vision includes cultivating your mental, physical or spiritual wellbeing then a TRiP can do the trick!
