Members, Guests & Spectators Access Policies

The Department of Recreational Sports receives the majority of its funding from Activity and Services (A&S) Fees paid out by students upon enrollment in classes at the University of Florida. Membership rates and access policies are established to protect the interest of fee-paying students.

Policies were developed by the Recreational Sports Board of Directors and approved by the Vice President for Student Affairs. The Director for Operations has been granted the authority to make decisions concerning the interpretation of the policies and procedures.

To access Southwest Recreation Center, Student Recreation and Fitness Center, Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex or the Florida Gym all members need to either present their own, valid Gator 1 Card or enroll in the handkey system which matches with their UFID number.

False identification will be confiscated. The original owner, as well as the person attempting to use the card will be suspended from all facilities pending a meeting with the Coordinator of Facility Operations or his/her designee. RecSports reserves the right to turn over any confiscated identification to University ID Card Services and/or Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution.

Membership is required for all participants to access Southwest Recreation Center or Student Recreation & Fitness Center.

Membership is not required for Faculty, Staff, and their Spouses/Partners to access Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex, Aquatics facilities, Lake Wauburg, and the Florida Gym.

Non-Fee Paying Students, Previously Enrolled Students, and Innovation Academy Students must have a RecSports membership to access Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex and the Florida Gym.

Guests that are not Faculty, Staff, and Spouses/Partners of Students/Faculty/Staff are not eligible to check out equipment, reserve courts, participate in personal training, Intramural Sports, and/or Sport Clubs.

Persons wishing to spectate Intramural Sports events must have a current UF student or RecSports member register for a spectator pass.

The single use Spectator Pass Wristband will be required for the spectator to enter the facility.

The sponsor will need to accompany the spectator, and spectator must wear the wristband while in the facility.

The Spectator Pass Wristband allows for spectating of intramural events only, not open recreation.

If a child under 18 is spectating, the parent or legal guardian must be with them at all times.

The wristband must be returned at the conclusion of the event and removed by RecSports staff at the front desk to prevent a $15 charge being issued to the sponsors’ student account.

All parties, including the sponsor and spectator, acknowledge the above information by signing the spectator pass agreement upon entering the facility.

Individuals seeking access to a recreation and fitness center may not solicit members to sponsor them as a guest.

RecSports management reserves the right to refuse access to any guest.
