Maintenance Assistant

The Maintenance Team works diligently to ensure the facilities are safe and in excellent condition for the University of Florida community.

Area Specific Job Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for general maintenance, landscaping, cleaning, trash removal, and inspections associated with various indoor and outdoor facilities
• Operate light vehicles, mowers, small grass cutting/hedge trimming machinery, power tools, pressure washers, radio communication equipment, and other specialized seasonal maintenance equipment
• Provide support for setup, tear-down, and the operation of special events and functions
• Wash and vacuum utility vehicles, mowers, and trucks
• Complete Daily Logs and scan Gator 1 Cards
• Perform routine maintenance such as painting, cleaning, replacing light bulbs, etc.
• Assist with the inspection, repairs, and cleaning of fitness equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent and Supervisor

RecSports Team Member Responsibilities

• Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests
• Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere
• Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
• Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
• Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities
• Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
• Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures


• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to frequently lift and move objects weighing 50 pounds
• Ability to work harmoniously with the staff, guests, and public
• Must be able to work approximately 20 hours per week
