Outdoor Gear Rental FAQ

  1. Who can rent gear from CORE?
    •  Anyone with a valid UFID can rent gear from us (student, faculty or staff)!
  2. How much gear can I rent?
    • We welcome you to rent as much gear as you would like. Please remember that you are responsible for any gear that is rented out under your UFID.
  3. How long can I rent gear?
    • You can rent gear for as long as you would like. To calculate a long-term rental cost, just add our short-term prices together (i.e. For a 10-night rental, we would add the 7-night rental price with the 3-night rental price.)
  4. How do the rental periods work?
    • The rental periods are by day or use, not for 24 hours. For example, if you rent gear from Friday to Monday, that is a 3-night rental.
  5. How can I pay for my gear rental?
    • We only accept payment via Debit or Credit Card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discovery, and American Express. We do not accept cash or checks and we do not charge to student accounts.
    • You can pay over the phone (352-294-1040) or in-person (1441 Bledsoe Drive).
  6. How do I get a refund?
    • We do not offer refunds for outdoor gear rentals.
  7. Can I make a reservation?
    • You are welcome to reserve your gear 3-days in advance.
    • You must pay-in-full in order to reserve your gear.
    • You can reserve over the phone or in-person.
    • We do not offer refunds for reservations.
  8. What if I return the gear late, dirty, or damaged?
    • If you return your gear late, you will be charged the 1-day rental price for each item every day that it is late. Late fees are not charged for the days that we are closed.
    • If you return your gear dirty or damaged, we will charge a fee that depends on the severity.
  9. Important!
    • You must read and sign a Rental Agreement in order to rent gear from CORE.

TRiP & Workshop FAQ

  1. Who can register for a TRiP and/or workshop?
    •  Anyone with a valid UFID can rent gear from us (student, faculty or staff)!

    • You can register in-person, over the phone, or online with RS Connect.
    • We only accept payment via Debit or Credit Card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discovery, and American Express. We do not accept cash or checks and we do not charge to student accounts.
  3. What does the price include?
    • A TRiP price includes transportation, trip fees (i.e. parking, camping permits, etc.), group gear (i.e. tents, canoes, etc.), food (on multi-day trips only), and one or more trained TRiP Leaders.
    • A workshop price includes the Outdoor Instructor and any necessary gear or materials. Some workshops include transportation (view details in RS Connect).
  4. How many TRiPs and/or workshops can I register for?
    • As many as you would like!
  5. What if the TRiP and/or workshop that I want to register for is full?
    • Call us at (352)294-1040 and we will put you on a waiting list.
    • If a spot opens up on the trip, we will send a mass e-mail out to the individuals on the waiting list. The first person to call or come in-person will get the spot.
  6. How do I get a refund?
    • We do not offer refunds for TRiPs or workshops.
    • However, there are three circumstances by which you can get your money back:
      • We provide full refunds if we cancel the TRiP or workshop.
      • You can find someone to fill your spot and have them pay you directly. Please notify us if you do this so that we can change the information accordingly.
      • You can call us to notify us that you would like to sell your spot. We will contact the waiting list to see if anyone would like to buy your spot. If someone buys your spot, we will refund you the amount after we receive the payment from the individual purchasing your spot.
