STUDENT STAFF CODE OF CONDUCT
The RecSports Student Staff Code of Conduct serves to clarify shared expectations while simultaneously addressing breaches of the code across all program areas within RecSports. The essence of this process is to support excellent service to our participants, develop the talents and potential within each team member, as well as cultivate disciplines and professionalism to prepare student employees for future career endeavors.
The Student Staff Code of Conduct is reviewed annually and we encourage adaptations to our process as deemed necessary. The RecSports Student Staff Code of Conduct was initially proposed and implemented by the RecSports Student Leadership Council in 2020 and has been annually reviewed, amended, and approved by RecSports Professional Staff.
Any questions, comments, or concerns about the RecSports Student Staff Code of Conduct can be directed to a Professional Staff Member.
RENEW UF TRAININGS
RecSports student employees must be in compliance with university training requirements.
UNIFORMS
Please remember that you are required to return your items upon completion of your RecSports experience.
Please return all uniform items to the Southwest Recreation Center Equipment Room during open facility hours. You will be asked to complete a Qualtrics form to verify the contents of your return. If you have any questions regarding uniform returns, please contact Kaleigh Gabriel, Coordinator for Talent Management, at KaleighAGabriel@ufl.edu.
STUDENT REST PERIODS
According to UF HR, during each four hours that are worked consecutively, you are permitted to take a 15-minute rest period when possible.
- Off-site breaks refer to any rest period where an employee leaves the facility. Off-site breaks will not be paid, and employees are responsible for clocking out during this time.
- On-site breaks refer to any rest period where an employee remains in the facility. On-site breaks will be paid, and employees may stay clocked in during this time.
- Stacking breaks (i.e. taking 1, 30-minute break instead of 2, 15-minute breaks) is not allowed for any employee within any unit.
It is the employee's responsibility to communicate to peers and/or supervisors when planning to take a 15-minute rest period. Some unit's have unit-specific expectations surrounding student breaks, and it is expected employees uphold their unit and RecSports expectations.
CAMPUS RESOURCES
We all need support and there are resources on campus available to us. UF Student Success has a number of initiatives to support the student experience. Visit this link to view some helpful campus resources.
They help students create success plans and provide support for students in distress, exhibiting uncharacteristic behavior, or displaying unhealthy patterns of behavior. They also assists with the Medical Petitions process.
STUDENT STAFF CARE GUIDE
The RecSports Care Guide Student Staff Edition is intended to help students understand resources available to themselves and peers when experiencing distress, and connect them to relevant community and campus resources.
In this guide, you will find information on community and campus resources, what indicators of distress can look and feel like, and tips on how to handle Title IX issues and where to report them, as well as how RecSports is here to support you through situations of tragedy and loss.
OFF-CAMPUS LIFE RESOURCES
For those living in off-campus housing, there are a few details to consider regarding move-in and August training accommodations.
- When signing your lease, request that the lease accommodates RecSports training dates in August.
- Off-Campus Life recommends re-signing a lease in the same apartment complex to mitigate a two-week gap in housing accommodations.
