American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor / Trainer Review

This course is designed to recertify those who are currently certified or expired no more than 1 year as an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor or Instructor Trainer. The course allows participants to review lifeguarding course content and practice skills in a formal class setting. Successful candidates must demonstrate proficiency in all skills and scenarios throughout the course, participate in all course activities, and successfully complete the instructor course written exam with a score of at least 80%. Participants may “opt-in” to participate in an additional hour of class to recertify their basic level lifeguarding certification – this requires an additional financial cost.

Prerequisites:

  • Must provide proof of a current (or expired by no more than 1 year) American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor or Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer certification.
  • Obtain instructor and participant course materials before starting the course.
  • Complete the basic-level Lifeguarding online course content in addition to the Lifeguarding Instructor Recertification online session (for instructor recertification candidates) or the Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer Recertification online session (for instructor trainer recertification candidates) prior to the first in-person class date.
