Who are Camp Counselors?
Our camp counselors are University of Florida students from all across campus that share our vision and excitement for working with youth from our community. Camp Counselors facilitate and lead youth camps and programs within UF RecSports, which includes activities pertaining to sports, arts, and outdoor recreation. As a camp counselor, you will

Youth Programs Leadership Course (EDU4930)
The Youth Programs Leadership Course is a semester-long experiential learning course created to train future individuals looking to work in youth programs at UF. This course trains students in the basics of the characteristics of today’s youth, building community, group facilitation principles, identifying risks within youth programming, and curriculum design. This course is a mixture of lecture, discussions and experiential learning.
What you will gain
- Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification
- ARC Certification in Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto-Injector
- Fundamentals of Ropes Course Basics
- Principles of Outdoor Adventure Planning
- Techniques for facilitating large & small groups
- Experience with planning events geared towards youth from the ground up
- 1-3 hours of elective credits
