FITNESS & WELLNESS POLICIES

Training Center Policies

The Training Center includes Massage Therapy Rooms, Personal Training Studio, Athletic Training Room, Fitness Assessment Center, and Fitness Administrative Offices.

• Equipment may not be altered or removed from the Training Center, unless under the direction of a uniformed RecSports staff member.
• Personal Training Studio
  • RecSports Personal Training, Premium Class Programs, and approved RecSports staff members are the only approved uses/users of the Personal Training Studio.
  • Sandals, flip-flops, open-toed or open-heeled shoes of any kind, are not allowed in the Personal Training Studio.

In Motion Center Policies

• All clients must have received clearance for physical activity prior to registration of an appointment.
• Appointments canceled with at least 24 hours notice of the original appointment may be rescheduled on RSConnect.
• No-shows or Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to one of the following results:
  • First Offense: Email Warning
  • Second Offense: Second Email Warning
  • Third Offense: 5-day block from registering for any services on RSConnect.
• Individuals may submit an appeal for any penalty
• Penalties expire at the end of each semester.

Group Fitness Registration Policies

• Online registration will open 25 hours prior to the start of class time.
• Online registration will close 30 minutes prior to the start of class.
• Registered participants may cancel their reservation by calling the Southwest Recreation Center Equipment Room up to three hours prior to the start of registered class.
• Registered participants must arrive 15 minutes prior to the class start time to claim their spot.
• Registered participants not in attendance 15 minutes prior to the start of class will lose their registered spot and will be assessed a penalty as follows:
  • First infraction: email warning
  • Second infraction: email warning
  • Third infraction and on: group fitness registration blocked for five days
  • All penalties will expire at the end of each semester.

Massage Therapy Policies

• All Massage Therapy Clients must complete a client intake form prior to purchasing a package.
• All Massage Therapy Packages expire 120 days after the date of purchase.
• All Massage Therapy Packages are not eligible for refunds except in the event the member has a documented medical circumstance that will not allow them to participate.
• Transfer of Massage Therapy packages to another person is prohibited.
• Clients must pay for a session or package before scheduling an appointment.
• Once payment has occurred it is the client’s responsibility to call the Training Center at Southwest Recreation Center to schedule an appointment.
• Clients are prohibited from providing any form of gratuity to massage therapy staff.
• Sessions or packages of any size may not be divided into a lesser denomination of time.
• Cancellation & Reschedule
  • Sessions canceled with at least 24 hours notice may be rescheduled, free of charge, within 30 days of the original appointment.
  • Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice may be rescheduled within 30 days of the original appointment, and there will be a $20.00 cancellation/rescheduling charge.

Mobile Chair Massage

• Mobile Massage will require a one-hour minimum service time and available for university approved student organizations and departments.
• The fee for Mobile Massage is $70 per hour per therapist.
• One therapist can accommodate 5 participants for 10 minutes each in one hour.
• One therapist can accommodate 10 participants for 5 minutes each in one hour.

Personal Training and Massage Packages Discount

• A 10% massage therapy discount will be offered with the purchase of an 18 session Personal Training Package. Applies to new purchase or renewal only, does not include upgraded packages.

Nutrition Services

• All sessions and packages are non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Intake paperwork must be completed and submitted to The Training Center in advance of session for review and approval.
• Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you; tardiness to session may result in shorter appointment time.
• Sessions canceled with at least 24 hours notice may be rescheduled, free of charge, within 30 days of the original appointment.
• Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice may be forfeited at no charge or rescheduled within 30 days of the original appointment for $20.00 cancellation/rescheduling charge.
• All sessions and packages must be used within 120 days of the purchase date.
• You must pay for your session or package before you can set up an appointment.
• Once payment has been rendered it is your responsibility to call the Training Center at Southwest Recreation Center to schedule your appointment.
• Sessions and packages can be upgraded to a more comprehensive package by paying the difference between initial purchase and desired package.
• Follow-up sessions can be purchased anytime within 120 days of last session. If more than 120 days have elapsed since the last session, an Initial session must be purchased.
• Cancellation & Reschedule
  •  Cancellation requests made at least 24 hours in advance:
  • Clients are eligible to reschedule the service to another date that is within 30 days of the original appointment, or forfeit the service. There are no rescheduling charges.
  • Cancellation requests made less than 24 hours in advance:
  • Clients are eligible to reschedule the service to another date within 30 days of the original appointment for a $20 rescheduling charge, or forfeit the service.

Personal Training

• All Personal Training Clients must complete a client intake form and receive physical activity clearance prior to purchasing a package.
•  All Personal Training packages expire 120 days after the date of purchase.
•  All Personal Training packages are not eligible for full refunds except in the event the member has a documented medical circumstance that will not allow them to participate. Transfer of Personal Training packages to another person is prohibited.

• One Personal Training package upgrade is permitted with the purchase of an original package.

CENTER FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION & EDUCATION

Program Trip Policies

• Pre-trip meetings are mandatory.
• The transport of alcohol, weapons, and/or illegal drugs is prohibited in University of Florida (UF) owned or rented vehicles.
• Only approved UF employees are permitted to operate all vehicles owned or rented by UF.
• Disorderly conduct, abuse of UF property, equipment, staff, and/or disregard of RecSports and CORE policies will result in immediate dismissal from the activity at the participant’s expense.
• Additional sanctions may include: disciplinary action, reimbursement for damages, and/or potential suspension from RecSports programs and services.
•  A participant asked to leave by RecSports staff will not be refunded any paid charges.

Gear Rental Policies

• Only valid Gator 1 Card holders (renter) may check-out outdoor rental equipment.
• All equipment is the responsibility of the Gator 1 Card holder once it is checked-out.
• The renter must sign the “Equipment Rental Agreement” at the time of equipment checkout.
• Equipment condition will be assessed at the time of check-out and time of return.
• The renter will be charged for late, dirty, and/or wet, damaged, or lost equipment.
• Equipment left unattended at the CORE facility will be charged a $25.00 charge. Should the equipment be lost or stolen while left unattended, the renter will be responsible for all replacement costs at current full retail prices.
• Walk-in rental equipment must be paid for at the time of check-out.
• Equipment rental reservations must be made at least five days prior to the anticipated day of check-out. Reserved equipment must be paid for at the time of reservation.
• Equipment that is not returned at the assigned date and time, as stated in the rental agreement, will be considered late.
• Equipment not returned within 14 days of the assigned date and time, will be considered lost.
• Patrons will be assessed the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the lost equipment in addition to the accumulated late charges.
• Failure to pay late, damage, cleaning, and/or replacement charges will result in the following:
  • Students: Charges left unpaid for more than 20 business days will be placed on the student’s UF account.
  •  Non-students: Charges left unpaid for more than 20 business days will be submitted to a collection agency and the renter will be responsible for all collection fees.
• RecSports reserves the right to refuse rental.

LAKE WAUBURG POLICIES

Disorderly conduct; dangerous, inappropriate or disruptive behavior, abuse of the facility, natural environment, equipment, or staff and/or disregard for the Recreational Sports and Lake Wauburg policies will result in immediate dismissal. Additional sanctions may include: disciplinary action, reimbursement for damages, and/or potential suspension from the facilities and programs. A participant asked to leave by RecSports staff will not be refunded any paid charges.

TOBACCO & ALCOHOL

• In accordance with the University’s Tobacco-Free policy, the use of any tobacco products is prohibited.
•  Alcohol is not permitted.

PETS

•  Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted.

PARK ACTIVITY POLICIES 

• Fishing is allowed at Lake Wauburg with a valid State of Florida fishing license in designated areas. Fishing is not permitted from the swim area dock.
  • Electric motors or paddles may be used on fishing boats. Private gas-powered watercraft are not permitted.
• Use of metal detectors is not permitted.
• Removal of artifacts, plants or animals is not permitted.
•  Attaching Objects to Trees and Structures
  • Anchoring to buildings, bike racks, handrails, challenge course elements, fences, tables, or light poles is not permitted.
  •  May be affixed to trees greater than 1 foot in diameter to be used as anchor points..
  •  May be affixed on a temporary basis and must be removed when not in use.
  •  May not be set up within a special event zone or interfere with other guest activities.
  •  Slacklining Specific:
    • Length not to exceed 40 feet.
    • Maximum height is 3 feet at the center of the span.
    • A minimum of 8 feet clearance on both sides is required.
• Tents with ground stakes are not permitted.
• Art projects that alter facilities or landscape (without approved consent from UF Recreational Sports), such as balloons, candles, fires outside of grills, nails, and tape on pavilions, posts, and trees are prohibited.
•  Activities involving flips are not permitted.
•  Only valid Gator 1 cardholders may check out equipment.
• Playing fields and sand volleyball courts are for drop-in-use only.

MODES OF TRANSPORTATION

• Parking is only permitted in designated parking areas.
• Motorized vehicles (such as mini-bikes and scooters), skateboards, and skates are restricted to main roads and designated parking areas.
• Bicycles are restricted to mountain bike trails and main paths.

LAKE WAUBURG EQUIPMENT CHECK OUT/CHECK IN POLICIES

• A Participant Acknowledgement of Risk, Release, and Agreement form must be completed to participate in designated activities.
• To check out/check in equipment a valid Gator 1 Card must be presented.
• Sponsors must accompany guests at all times while using Lake Wauburg equipment.
• There is a 60-minute limit on all equipment when someone is waiting.
• Equipment must be returned 30 minutes prior to the park’s closing time.
• Equipment is required to remain on park premises.
•  Equipment Specific Information:
  •  Mountain Bike
    • Two mountain bikes and designated equipment may be checked out per valid Gator 1 card.
    • Closed toe and heel shoes are required when using the mountain bikes.
    • Bike helmets are required to be worn and buckled.
  • Watercraft:
    • Two single-person watercrafts and designated equipment may be checked out per valid Gator 1 card.
    • A life jacket is required to be worn and fastened when using watercraft.
    • Watercraft may only dock at the facility from which it was checked out.
    • Swimming and jumping from watercrafts is not permitted.
    • Gator 1 cardholders and guests are required to have a swim check prior to check out/use of sail boats, stand up paddle boards, and wake/ski services.
    • Watercraft must return to shore when instructed to do so by RecSports staff.

SWIM AREA POLICIES

• Swimming is allowed in designated swim area only when a lifeguard is present.
• Glass containers are not permitted.
• Diving/jumping is allowed in designated area only.
• Small children must be accompanied/supervised by an adult while in or near the water.
• Non-swimmers must wear a life jacket.
• Prolonged breath-holding or swimming under water for distance is not permitted.

CAROLINA CLIMBING WALL & BOULDERING GROTTO POLICIES

• Participants must have a current Gator 1 Card or be a guest of a Gator 1 Card holder to use facilities.
•  All participants must complete a Participant Acknowledgement of Risk, Release, and Agreement form in order to participate.
• Participants cannot use personal climbing equipment.
•  Participants are allowed to wear personal climbing shoes.
• Participants must wear appropriate clothing and footwear to participate.
•  Food and drinks must be kept away from all activity areas.
• Climbing on any of the equipment is permitted only with direction from the supervising staff member.
• Participants are responsible for any equipment they sign out.
•  Chalk is not allowed on the climbing wall.
• 1Guests may only be belayed by a Gator 1 Card holder with a current belay card.
• A back-up belayer is required. This person is not required to have a belay card.
• Courtesy to others, appropriate language and behavior are required.
• One warning will be issued per participant for a policy infraction; second infraction will result in loss of privileges.
• Climbing wall staff will determine if it is safe to start or continue climbing.

BELAY CLASS/BELAY CARDHOLDERS

• Only Gator 1 Card holders can take a Lake Wauburg belay class.
• If a belay cardholder has not belayed in one calendar month, the belay cardholder must be checked by staff for set up and technique prior to belaying.
• Belay cards will expire 1 year from the date of the last recorded visit to the climbing wall.
• Belay cards must be surrendered to Lake Wauburg staff when requested.

RecSports Inclement Weather Guidelines

• Download the Rainout Line App on your mobile device for instant notifications on cancellations or modifications at RecSports facilities or call 352-200-2779.
  • Account Name: “UF RecSports Cancellation Hotline”
• Conditions should be monitored for potential signs of heat illness when the air temperature is above 85°F. Stay hydrated, increase rest breaks and decrease exertion time.
• Adhere to all RecSports directives, including cancellations or modifications, as listed on the Rainout Line App at any RecSports facility or program.

Athletic Training

Cancellation/No-Show Policy

• Appointments canceled BEFORE 1p.m. the day before scheduled appointment may be rescheduled, free of charge, within 30 days of the original appointment.
• Appointments canceled AFTER 1p.m. the day before scheduled appointment will be assessed a $20 charge. Appointment may be rescheduled within 30 days of the original appointment.
• Tardiness (less than 15 minutes) to a session will result in shorter Athletic Training appointments. At or after 15 minutes, the appointment would be considered a no-show and assessed a $20 cancellation/no show charge.
• After two cancellations made after 1 p.m. the day before scheduled appointment and/or no-shows in the same semester, patients will not be allowed to schedule appointments for 30 days.

Intramural Sports

Gender Identity

 All individuals who meet the eligibility requirements for participation in the Intramural Sports program are eligible and encouraged to participate. Individuals may participate in accordance with their personal gender identity and expression.

Photography, videography, and audio recording inside the Southwest Recreation Center and the Student Recreation & Fitness Center is not allowed without prior approval from RecSports Administration. Submit a Public Relations Form.

Note: In accordance with the University’s Best Practices for Photographing and Filming in Public Areas, a reasonable effort should be made to obtain written model release.
