Membership, Guest & Spectator Policies

The Department of Recreational Sports receives the majority of its funding from Activity and Services (A&S) Fees paid out by students upon enrollment in classes at the University of Florida. Membership rates and access policies are established to protect the interest of fee-paying students.

Membership Policies

  1. 1. University of Florida students who are currently enrolled in classes and paying Activity & Service Fees are granted access to use all RecSports facilities and programs, and are considered members.
  2. 2. The following groups are eligible to become RecSports members:
    1. a. Previously Enrolled Students – In a semester immediately following A&S fee payment and enrollment, former students are eligible to purchase a RecSports membership.
    2. b. Non-Fee Paying Students – UF students enrolled in off-book, online, distance education, residency, or other University of Florida academic programs which do not require the payment of Activity & Service Fees are eligible to purchase a RecSports membership. Innovation Academy may purchase Non-Fee Paying Student memberships.
    3. c. UF Student Spouses/Partners – University of Florida student spouses/partners are eligible to purchase a RecSports membership.
    4. d. Faculty, Staff, and Affiliates and their Spouses/Partners – UF faculty, staff, and affiliates and their spouses/partners are eligible to purchase a RecSports membership.
    5. e. University of Florida Alumni are considered a UF affiliate.
  3. 3. Membership is required for all participants to access Southwest Recreation Center or Student Recreation & Fitness Center.
  4. 4. Membership is not required for Faculty, Staff, and their Spouses/Partners to access Aquatics facilities, Lake Wauburg, and the Florida Gym.
  5. 5. Non-Fee Paying Students, Previously Enrolled Students, Innovation Academy Students, Affiliates, and guests must have a RecSports membership to access the Florida Gym.

Membership Access Policies

  1. 1. To access Southwest Recreation Center, Student Recreation and Fitness Center, or the Florida Gym, all members need to either present their own, valid Gator 1 Card or enroll in the handkey system which matches with their UFID number.
  2. 2. False identification will be confiscated. The original owner, as well as the person attempting to use the card, will be suspended from all facilities pending a meeting with the Coordinator of Facility Operations or his/her designee. RecSports reserves the right to turn over any confiscated identification to University ID Card Services and/or Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution.

General Guest & Spectator Policies

  1. Persons wishing to be a guest must purchase a Recreational Sports guest pass for $15, which gives access to all recreational facilities for one day.
    1. a. Guests must present a government issued picture identification and be sponsored and accompanied by a fee paying student or a member of the recreation and fitness centers.
    2. b. Faculty, staff, and affiliates of the University of Florida may purchase a guest pass and are not required to have an accompanying sponsor.
    3. c. Guest passes are available for access to the following facilities: Southwest Recreation Center, Student Recreation and Fitness Center, Florida Pool, and the O’Connell Center Pool only. (Note: Access to some programs & services are not included in guest pass privileges.)
    4. d. Guest passes are not eligible for refunds.
    5. e. *All charges stated are pre-sales tax.
  2. 2. Guests must be at least 18 years old.
  3. 3. Sponsors are responsible for the conduct and actions of their guests.
  4. 4. Faculty, Staff, and Spouses/Partners of Students/Faculty/Staff wishing to participate in Sport Clubs and Intramural Sports in the recreation and fitness centers may utilize a single use guest pass for access to the facility.
  5. 5. Guests that are not Faculty, Staff, and Spouses/Partners of Students/Faculty/Staff are not eligible to check out equipment, reserve courts, participate in personal training, Intramural Sports, and/or Sport Clubs.
  6. 6. Persons wishing to spectate Intramural Sports events must have a current UF student or RecSports member register for a spectator pass.
  7. 7. The single use Spectator Pass Wristband will be required for the spectator to enter the facility. The sponsor will need to accompany the spectator, and spectator must wear the wristband while in the facility. The Spectator Pass Wristband allows for spectating of intramural events only, not open recreation. If a child under 18 is spectating, the parent or legal guardian must be with them at all times. The wristband must be returned at the conclusion of the event and removed by RecSports staff at the front desk to prevent a $15 charge being issued to the sponsor’s student account. All parties, including the sponsor and spectator, acknowledge the above information by signing the spectator pass agreement upon entering the facility.
  8. 8. Individuals seeking access to a recreation and fitness center may not solicit members to sponsor them as a guest.
  9. 9. False identification will be confiscated. Area Specific Membership Policies

Graham Pool

  1. 1. All guests much purchase a $15 all-facilities guest pass for access and be sponsored by an eligible student, faculty, staff, or spouse/partner with a valid Gator 1 Card.
  2. 2. Sponsors must accompany guests at all times and are responsible for their conduct and actions.
  3. 3. Individuals seeking admittance to the pools may not solicit members to sponsor them as a guest.
  4. 4. Sponsors are limited to four guests per day at the Graham Pool. Guest visits per semester are not limited at the Graham Pool.
  5. 5. Guests cannot participate in Sport Clubs practices, Swim Instruction, or Fitness Classes at the Graham Pool.

Florida Pool & O’Connell Center Pool

  1. 1. All guests must purchase a $10 single-use guest pass for access and be sponsored by an eligible student, faculty, staff, or spouse/partner with a valid Gator 1 Card.
  2. 2. Guests must be at least 18 years old to enter the Florida Pool and the O’Connell Center Pool.
  3. 3. Guests must sign in the pool Guest Book and present a government issued identification card.
  4. 4. Sponsors must accompany guests at all times and are responsible for their conduct and actions.
  5. 5. Guests cannot participate in Sport Clubs practices at the Florida Pool and O’Connell Center Pool.
  6. 6. Individuals seeking admittance to the pools may not solicit members to sponsor them as a guest.

Outdoor Recreation

Center for Outdoor Recreation & Education (CORE)

Eligibility

  1. 1. To access CORE services, University of Florida community members must present their valid Gator 1 Card.
  2. 2. RecSports reserves the right to refuse access to any participant.

Guests

  1. 1. All guests must be sponsored and accompanied by a valid Gator 1 Card holder.
  2. 2. Each Gator 1 Card holder may register 1 guest per trip.
  3. 3. Sponsors are responsible for the conduct and actions of their guests.
  4. 4. Guests must be at least 18 years old unless otherwise indicated.
  5. 5. Individuals seeking access to CORE services may not solicit members to sponsor them as a guest.

Lake Wauburg

Park Entrance Policy

  1. 1. To access Lake Wauburg facilities and services, students, faculty, and staff are required to present their own, valid Gator 1 Card.
  2. 2. Everyone planning to utilize Lake Wauburg specific activities must sign a waiver prior to park entry.</li

Lake Wauburg Guest Policy

  1. 1. A Gator 1 cardholder may sponsor up to 4 guests.
  2. 2. Guests are to arrive in a vehicle with the Gator 1 cardholder or in the next immediate vehicle.
  3. 3. Sponsors can check-out equipment for themselves and one guest.
  4. 4. Guests are required to remain with their Sponsor at all times.
  5. 5. Sponsors are responsible for the conduct and actions of their guests.
  6. 6. Individuals seeking access to Lake Wauburg may not solicit students, faculty, or staff to sponsor them as a guest.
  7. 7. RecSports management reserves the right to refuse access to any guest.
