Hike along the Art Loeb Trail and view a gorgeous sunset from atop Black Balsam Knob! Located in North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest, Black Balsam provides breath-taking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Experience the fresh mountain air on one of our favorite places to hike! Then visit nearby waterfalls and an apple orchard where you can pick your own apples! The trip will leave early in the morning on Friday and return late Sunday evening.

AMENITIES:

• Backcountry camping
• No electricity
• No running water
• No flushing toilets

CHALLENGE LEVEL = MEDIUM

Trip includes hiking with a heavy backpack over mountainous terrain with gradual elevation gains and losses. All CORE trips include instruction on basic backpacking skills, but expect to be challenged physically on this trip.

REFUND POLICY:

1. Trips can not be transferred.
2. Trip refunds will be granted only if:
   1. Trip is cancelled by CORE.
   2. A paid replacement has been found.
   3. A $10 base processing charge or 15% of the registration price, whichever is greater, will be assessed.
3. Replacement requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled service offering start date.
4. Participant has documented medical circumstances preventing participation.
