Sport Clubs – Leave a Legacy
Build our sport club program
- With 50 clubs to choose from, the Department of Recreational Sport’s Sport Clubs program is home to countless student-run organizations for those who have a passion to continue participating in a lifelong sport or who want to learn a new sport. Of the 4,000 students actively involved, the Sport Clubs program emphasizes leadership, education and service through sport. Sport Clubs are open to University of Florida students, faculty, staff and spouse of any skill level and offer the opportunity to compete against other colleges throughout the state, region and nation. A gift to the Sport Clubs Program allows students to continue pursuing their passions outside the classroom. Your contribution offers financial support for sport club operations so that team members can proudly represent the Gator Nation as well as pioneer educational grants and scholarships to sport club athletes.
CHALLENGES
- RecSports hosts the Sport Clubs Banquet annually to recognize the achievements of our club athletes. Increasing Banquet and award expenses challenge us to continue providing a quality experience
- In 2015, RecSports established a Sport Club Professional Development Scholarship to aid athletes in achieving their career aspirations
- Continually rising costs for sport club operations, equipment, travel, competition fees, uniforms, and athletic training
- Sport Clubs do not host tryouts and accept all interested students. Clubs with high enrollment numbers struggle to provide opportunities for all members due to limited resources
OPPORTUNITIES
- Contributions to the Sport Club program will help offset the financial barrier for many students to participate in the sport they love
- Increasing the amount of scholarships given annually will allow RecSports to provide further opportunities for student success
- We would like to offer more than one $250 grant
