The purpose of the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program is to teach people how to be safe in, on or around water and to teach individuals of different ages and abilities how to swim. The Water Safety Instructor course will train instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course, six levels of the Learn-to-Swim program as well as Parent and Child Aquatics. This course is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Participants will learn the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person when minutes matter, and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. This class is delivered in a blended format with pre-course online content and in-person hands-on skill learning. Learn More.
