WHAT IS TALENT MANAGEMENT?
Talent Management was created just over ten years ago, while the first full-time professional staff member was added in March 2017. Since then, Talent Management has made a concerted effort to transform departmental procedures, improve programs and events, and intentionally show care and appreciation toward our student employees. Prior to 2022, Talent Management was known as Staff Development and Training.
According to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), "talent management uses strategies that are designed to attract, develop, retain, and use employees with the necessary skills and aptitude to meet a business's current and future needs."
WHAT DOES RECSPORTS TALENT MANAGEMENT DO?
The Talent Management program is an internal service to this large student staff, and we aim to steward this opportunity with a collaborative and innovative spirit to be most effective. Student employees are at the heart of our focus and energy, and we directly impact the student employee experience in some capacity from start to finish.
Talent Management's projects and initiatives revolve around the RecSport's Student Staff Experience diagram shown below. Each initiative is built based on a piece of the Student Staff Experience: Recruitment, Onboarding, Training, Development & Service, Recognition & Belonging, Offboarding.
