Group Fitness instructors serve RecSports participants by providing over 100 fun, effective, and safe fitness classes per week! Group Fitness Instructors advance the mission of RecSports by preparing and facilitating exercise experiences within six different formats including: Cycle, Mind & Body, Dance, Outdoors, Strength, and Cardio.
Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of the Group Fitness and Small Group Training programs under the supervision of the Group Fitness and Small Group Training Coordinator
- Assist with evaluations of group fitness and small group training staff.
- Assist in leading the Instructor Training Course
- Lead continuing education workshops during Sunday Monthly Meeting
- Assist with scheduling of fitness staff.
- Maintain employee files.
- Keep stereo and equipment in working order.
- Keep staff manual and website up to date.
- Assist with the daily duties of the online registration.
- Monitor and respond to the Group Fitness email inbox.
RecSports Team Member Responsibilities
- Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants, and guests
- Uphold and exceed the expectations of the cornerstones of RecSports service: Accountability, Anticipating needs, Attitude, and Atmosphere
- Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
- Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
- Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and around RecSports facilities
- Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
- Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
- All RecSports employees are expected to abide by the RecSports Code of Conduct process that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors
Requirements/Qualifications
- First Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to attain it within first week of employment.
- Group fitness certification from a nationally accredited agency, such as AFAA or ACE
- Candidates should be a current UF Group Fitness Instructor
- Availability to work 15 hours per week.
- Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811
- Good standing within the University of Florida and the Department of Recreational Sports. Please note, each candidate’s status within the RecSports Student Staff Code of Conduct will be considered when reviewing applications.

Personal Trainer
Personal Trainers serve RecSports participants by designing individualized training programs tailored to the health and fitness goals of their clients. Personal Trainers advance the mission of RecSports by providing accountability, exercise prescription, and motivation to aid their clients in achieving more!
Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Maintain all required certifications
- Create and design safe and effective exercise regimens for clients
- Track client sessions and progress towards specific goals
- Arrive 7 minutes prior to scheduled appointment time, prepared and ready to train
- Stay 7 minutes after scheduled appointment time to ensure that all equipment is placed in its respective area and properly cleaned
- Know scope of practice and act accordingly
- Keep all pertinent client information private
- Attend all mandatory monthly meetings, continuing education sessions, and mentor groups
- Act and dress professionally and responsibly
- Participate in end of semester evaluations conducted by supervisor

Requirements/Qualifications
- Hold a personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACSM, ACE, NSCA, or NASM
- Minimum one-year experience
- A fitness-based resume and cover letter must be submitted with the application.
- Upon review of application materials, the applicant may be invited to participate in the mock client interview process.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification are required and may be obtained during hiring process.
- All new personal trainers are required to work a minimum of two shifts (4-6 hours) in the InMotion Center.
- Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811

WELLNESS ASSOCIATE
Wellness Associates serve RecSports participants by scheduling and performing fitness assessments for clients. Wellness Associates advance the mission of RecSports by assisting and performing fitness assessments to promote wellness, health, and fitness.
Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of the InMotion Center.
- Competently perform all InMotion Center appointment types, including equipment orientations, personal training trail sessions, exercise is medicine, and fitness assessments
- Be an ambassador for RecSports
- Enforce all organizational policies and ensure participants conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Report all problem users to the Operations Supervisor or your direct supervisor.
- Attend all mandatory monthly meetings, continuing education sessions, and mentor groups.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of the InMotion Center.
