Multimedia Assistant
The Multimedia Assistant within Marketing at Recreational Sports is visually minded, a storyteller at heart, and energized by creative challenges and reimagining what’s possible. This position will work alongside the Division’s Multimedia Specialist to create multimedia that showcase and support the Gator student experience at RecSports.
Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Film, photograph and edit projects highlighting RecSports programs, student spaces and student experiences
- Although this is a combined photo and video role, candidates with strong skills and interest in predominately one of the disciplines are still invited to apply
- Assist in the planning, development and execution of production plans.
- Maintain care of photo and video equipment
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers and vendors in an agency style work environment with both student and professional staff including graphic designers, marketing assistants, communication specialists and more.
RecSports Team Member Responsibilities

- Uphold and exceed the expectations of the cornerstones of RecSports service: Accountability, Anticipating needs, Attitude, and Atmosphere
- Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
- Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
- Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and around RecSports facilities
- Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
- Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
- All RecSports employees are expected to abide by the RecSports Code of Conduct process that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors
Requirements/Qualifications

- Must be a currently enrolled University of Florida student
- Willing to work 10-12 hours per week
- Must be available to work weekdays, and some evening and weekends
- Demonstrated previous experience utilizing videography and photography equipment, Adobe Creative Cloud programs such as Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Media Encoder, Bridge
- Complete and maintain UF online certifications GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811
Preferred Qualifications
- Have an interest in people and building positive relationships that make our department and the UF community better
- Possess solid filming, photography and editing skills, as well as the ability to craft and maintain a consistent voice and tone with imagery
- Ability and desire to learn the department’s production equipment inside and out, as well as industry standard techniques and safe practices of grip, gaff, sound, lighting and camera equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and an eye for detail and accuracy
- An interest in thinking creatively, strategically and collaboratively to aid in educating our community on the experiences and offerings available to enhance the UF experience.
Additional Information
- The department’s camera ecosystem consists of Blackmagic Cinema Cameras and Canon Digital SLRs
- Student Life Marketing utilizes Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Media Encoder, Bridge), PhotoMechanic, and Davinci Resolve for post-production workflows

Graphic Designer
Graphic designers are able to work to create designs for RecSports internally and externally. These staff members are able to have their designs seen by every patron that walks into RecSports facilities. Graphic designers play a huge part in making sure that RecSports provides a welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and everyone who may come through our doors.
Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Working in a team environment alongside designers, Web developers and project managers in a professional-client environment
- Creating quality promotional materials for the department including but not limited to signage, print publications, apparel, and Web content
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, and associates
- Always display responsible and quality work ethic
- Willingness to embrace learning opportunities
- Fulfill scheduled tasks/projects in a timely manner by meeting deadlines
- Maintain scheduled office hours
- Contribute 10 or more hours per week

- Previous design experience with portfolio must be available upon request
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs
- Working knowledge of Adobe Production Suite programs is a plus
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS Web encoding is a plus

Marketing Assistant
Marketing Assistants help coordinate marketing team efforts and materials to help spread the word about RecSports events! Marketing Assistants have the opportunity to gain skills like digital marketing, social media, building brands, and much more!
Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of RecSports marketing plans.
- Marketing materials include: RecSports: The Magazine, bulletin boards, posters, Facebook Fan Page, giveaways/promotional items, Web buttons, marquees, e-mail blasts, The Alligator/Reitz calendars, press releases, Gator Times submissions etc.
- Working with advertisers for RecSports: The Magazine and sponsors for events
- Assist in the promotion of RecSports through Preview Orientation presentations
- Working in a team environment alongside designers, Web developers and project managers in a professional-client environment
