Water Safety Instructor
The Aquatics unit delivers opportunities for participants interested in swimming and provides two on-campus pools including Florida Pool and the O’Connell Center Pool.
Aquatics Water Safety Instructors teach private and group swimming lessons for the Gator Community. All Water Safety Instructors must have or be willing to obtain a Water Safety Instructor and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications by the first day of employment.

Unit Specific Job Responsibilities
- Instruct group and private swimming lessons
- Evaluate participant swimming ability and determine correct swim level
- Create an education, safe, and inviting experience for individuals
Requirements/Qualifications
- University of Florida student
- Contribute 5-8 hours/week, dependent up on lesson schedule (evening and weekend hours)
- Current Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid or willing to obtain within 30 days
- Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or willing to obtain before instructing
- Complete and maintain UF certifications: GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811
- Complete Background Check
